I’m Nate the Great! - and this is another GreatOne Production.

This is normally posted on Fridays, but today’s edition of Greater Words, Greater You! is a special weekend edition and dedication, called “Strength that stays.”

This is dedicated to someone who was very special to many people; including me.
He was a brother in the church, a family friend and a simply awesome human being.

To respect his family and give them their privacy, I’ll simply call him “Brother B.”

This week we’ve focused on Strength - not the kind that’s just loud, but the kind that “hangs around.”

You know, the kind that stays and actually does something.

Today, I want to talk about the strength that maintains you, supports you and helps you endure whatever life throws at you.

Strength doesn’t carry a megaphone.
It’s simply your loyal follower and consistent supporter.

Strength is the quiet decision to keep on believing when fear keeps on telling you to stop.

The Great Story

In 1999, my Dad, may he rest in peace, was preaching a series of sermons based on the scripture verse, John 14:18 (KJV) “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

One night, after listening to one of those sermons, I went home and wrote a song called “Give the Lord the Praise,” which I eventually taught the Brotherhood choir.

There’s a part of the song that goes like this:

“He’ll never leave me comfortless. He will come to me. When I need him by my side that’s where he’ll always be. I can’t lose this game of life if I let him call the plays. That’s why I give the Lord, that’s why I give the Lord, that’s why I give the Lord the praise.”

Years later, Brother B., who sang one of the solo parts in the song, fell into a coma and nearly died.

In fact, doctors expected him to die.

Members of our church prayed for him and his family, went to visit him, etc.

Then one day, Brother B., who was by the way, one of my brother’s best friends, woke up singing my song!

It was incredible!

Even more incredible is the fact that he was singing the part of the song that I just mentioned above: “He’ll never leave me comfortless. He will come to me…”

I was told that although he couldn’t quite sing the whole song, he got that part down cold, along with the part that says, “That’s why I give the Lord the praise.”

So basically, he remembered “He’ll never leave me comfortless. He will come to me.” and “That’s why I give the Lord the praise.”

Combine the two and you have “He’ll never leave me comfortless. He will come to me. That’s why I give the Lord the praise.”

Brother B. would later say that his faith in God and those words gave him the strength to keep living.

I wrote that song in 1999. I don’t remember the exact year Brother B. went into a coma; but I believe it was in the early 2000’s.

I dedicate this great story to him because I was told just this past Wednesday, that he passed away at the age of 84 - more than 20 years after coming out of that coma.

In the Bible, Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Whether in the biblical sense, the natural sense or any other sense you may want to consider, words do matter, words are powerful and words can and often do, cause individuals, groups and even nations, to live - or cease to exist.

If you doubt it, just take a look at the world around you and see for yourself.

You just never know when the words YOU use may inspire someone, anyone, maybe even yourself, to live - and maybe even live a better, greater, life.

and stronger than you’ve been giving yourself credit for.

Strength isn’t loud.

Strength isn’t flashy.

Strength isn’t always obvious.

Sometimes strength looks like:

• showing up when you’d rather stay in bed - like I wanted to this morning.

• choosing peace when frustration feels easier

• taking one step when you feel stuck

• believing again after disappointment

• trying again after failure

• hoping again after you get hurt
  
  And we all know a little something about getting hurt, don’t we?

Heaven knows I do.
Anyway…

Strength isn’t always the ROAR of a lion!

Sometimes it’s the whisper of a survivor.

Sometimes it’s the quiet decision to keep going.

Sometimes it’s the small choice to not give up.

Sometimes it’s the simple act of saying:

“I’m still here.”

Great One…

You have strength you haven’t even tapped into yet.

Strength that’s been built through every storm you’ve survived.

Strength that’s been shaped by every challenge you’ve overcome.

Strength that’s been forged in the fire of everything you thought would break you - but didn’t.

You didn’t just happen to make it to the middle of the week.

You earned your way here.

So today, I want you to walk with your head a little higher…

your shoulders a little straighter…

your spirit a little stronger…

Because you’re not weak.

You’re not behind.

You’re not failing.

You’re rising.

And I’m grateful for the strength you’re choosing - even if it doesn’t feel like strength yet.

Because here’s the truth:

Strength doesn’t always show up as power.

The willingness to try.
The willingness to begin.
The willingness to take one honest step forward - even when you don’t feel ready.

Strength does start small.

It starts in the quiet moments when nobody sees you.

Not the strength to lift a mountain…

You don’t have to be powerful today.

Just be willing.

Hello Great Ones,
I’m Nate the Great - and this is another GreatOne Production…

This week has been all about movement - honest, aligned, imperfect movement. Today, I want to talk about the courage to continue, even when the progress feels slow, the energy feels low or the path feels unclear.

Breakthroughs rarely come from giant leaps.

They come from small persistence - the courage to keep going when quitting feels easier.

The Great Story

There was a man who walked the same trail every morning. One day, he noticed a small stone blocking part of the path. He kicked it aside and kept walking.

The next day, the stone was back - pushed there by the wind.

He kicked it again.

And again, the next day.

And again, the next.

Weeks later, he realized something:

The stone wasn’t the obstacle.

The stone was the proof that he kept showing up.

His breakthrough wasn’t moving the stone.

His breakthrough was becoming the kind of person who kept walking the trail.

Persistence builds identity.

Identity builds breakthrough.

Identity Shift

Old identity: “I only move when I feel strong.”

New identity: “I move because I’m becoming strong.”

Old identity: “I need motivation before I act.”

New identity: “I act and motivation follows.”

Old identity: “I’ll continue when things get easier.”

New identity: “I continue because I’m becoming someone who doesn’t quit.”

One Great Thing

Do one small thing today that proves you’re still in the game.

Not a giant leap.

Not a perfect step.

Just one act of persistence.

One Great Thing that says:

Thank you for being here, thank you for showing up and thanking you for stepping up, not just for the current you, but also for your future self!

I LOVE this word because it’s a movement word, it’s a “GO!” word - it’s a TAKE ACTION word! And as the last of 6 children, I had to learn to take action very early in life.

Why?

It’s simple. If I don’t take action, I don’t exist!

Now that’s not cool, it’s not good and it’s certainly not great! - at least not from my point of view. Anyway…

It’s time to get this Great Train rolling - so here we go!

Today’s Great Word is simple, powerful and transformational when you apply it:

STEP

Not leap.
Not sprint.
Not perfection.
Just… STEP.

🔥 Why “STEP” Matters

A STEP may look small, but it carries massive power.

It matters because every step you take is a vote for the person you’re becoming.

A step shapes identity - it tells your mind, “I’m someone who moves. I’m someone who grows. I’m someone who shows up.” Identity isn’t built in silence; it’s built in motion.

A step builds momentum.

One step leads to another.

Movement creates clarity.

Action creates energy.

And momentum creates breakthroughs.

You don’t need to see the whole path - you just need to take the next step.

A step activates your future self.

Every aligned action pulls your future closer.

There was a young man who wanted to become a speaker, but he didn’t believe he had the voice for it. Every time he tried, his doubt spoke louder than his words. One day, a mentor told him, “Your voice isn’t the problem. Your belief is.”

So he made a decision: every morning, he would speak one sentence with conviction. Just one.

Within months, his belief grew stronger than his fear and his voice followed.

His future changed the moment his belief did.

When your belief grows, your life grows.
When your belief strengthens, your future strengthens.

Hey Great One…

Welcome to Week Two.

Last week, we uncovered your WHY- the reason behind your direction.

This week, we strengthen the engine that carries you forward:

BELIEF.

Because here’s the truth:

You don’t rise to your goals.
